Perseverance. Grit. Scappiness. Fight. Call it what you will. They got it.

They ended up 6th on the night, great job!

Matt Rudnitsky and Lee Barnett ended up 5th, Ben and Mike Schlimmer 9th, and Holly and Jeff Rankinen 19th.

Do you think I need a full jug at Alcona? Will our light last through the night? Do you think we can beat them? Should I wear pants? shorts? long sleeves?

I guess...it doesn’t really matter. Sprints are done: check them out at www.ausablecanoemarathon.com and don’t forget to follow us through the night!

See you in Oscoda.

This Saturday was the Armond Bassett Canoe and Kayak Race, Forge Racing helped sponsor a Pro C1 race that drew quite a crowd. Leading the race pretty much wire to wire was Marc Gillespie, and Matt Rudnitsky took second. Third was Jason Quagliata and Forth Jeff Rankinen. We then mixed it up for the C2 amateur race, there was quite a crowd at the start line, which is great to see! It was a very relaxed race, the top 3 teams just took it easy until the last mile of the race. Ben Sclimmer (with his partner Matt Belknap) nudged out his big brother Mike with his partner Jeff Rankinen for first, third was Holly Reynolds and Jon Santor (who then drove to Utica to do incredibly well in the Boilermaker (61 minutes!!)) Forth was Dave Sennett and Matt Rudnitsky.

Forge Racing represented! Mike and Ben Schlimmer (make that legit number 2) won the race in another smartly played race, Second, Marc Gillespie and Holly Reynolds, Third Matt Rudnitsky and Mike Bachman! Great race!

Its one of the greatest formats for races, two approximately 50 minute races held about an hour apart. First the C-2 race on a loop course that has every kind of water you could want (and in turn, every kind of water you don’t want too, but ahh...such is life). The C-2 Race saw the Schlimmers, in a very smartly played race, get a 1st place victory to 2nd place Matt Rudnitsky and Steve Rankinen (rumor has it, the first time that the Schlimmers have LEGITIMATELY beat Matt :-P) and a close third place, Holly Reynolds and Jeff Rankinen. After recouping, and checking out Holly’s new motorcycle, the C-1 Race began, Marc Gillespie led wire to wire and ended up winning by a minute in a 49 minute race. Way to go FORGE RACING!
